Shake Off Those Holiday Pounds With These Tips
There's no shame in indulging a little bit around the holidays. Friends and family are over, the oven is constantly turning out fresh baked treats and the cold weather makes you want to consume cups of hot chocolate. From Thanksgiving to New Year's Eve, there's practically a party every week - and that means eating a lot of rich or sugary foods. It all tastes so good while you're eating it that it can be a little hard to notice the additional pounds they're adding to your frame. If you woke up on Jan. 1st with a little extra weight than you remember, now is the time to do something about it. After all, you won't be able to hide behind those baggy sweaters for long.
Follow these four tips to feel comfortable in your clothes when springtime comes around.
1. Limit Alcohol Intake
During the holiday season, you might have imbibed a little more than usual. All of those holiday parties and family gatherings are often supplied with bottles of champagne, early-morning mimosas, and bowls of spiked eggnog. An easy way to lose the weight quickly is to stop drinking alcohol. Many drinks are full of empty carbs and sugars - besides making you feel sluggish, they'll make the pounds stick around.
2. No More Leftovers
Do you still have leftover pie, cookies and other treats from the holiday season? If you do, it's time to get them out of the house - give them to your friends, neighbors or children, but get them out. After all, it's those very treats that added the extra weight. Continuing to eat them will only add more, so get rid of them quick!
3. Start Exercising
Did you make any resolutions? If not, you might want to resolve to work every day to shed those extra pounds. An easy way to do so is to get just 30 minutes of exercise a day. Grab your nuyu™ Activity Tracker and get moving. If it's too cold outside to go for a prolonged walk, try doing some light aerobics or yoga indoors. Even if you can only exercise a few minutes a day, it'll add up in the long run.
4. Have Fun
Losing your holiday weight doesn't mean you have to be boring. Find fun ways to get some extra exercise like skating, skiing or even having a snowball fight. The holidays may be over, but the fun doesn't have to end.
